Tuesday 14th September - Hello from new captain!

Thank you all for your support in appointing me as captain for 2010-11. I am looking forward to an active year this year as all of the weddings and babies of the last two years appear to have settled down. There are a few aims for the year that I would like us all to work towards:

· Develop the junior side – the work that Graham started in July will be supported by Helen moving forward and hopefully this will see links with local schools strengthen and the junior squad expand as these people are the future of the club.

· I aim to enter a men’s 8 in the HORR in early April. Mark Smith has agreed to take this on as a project to get the crew and outings arranged. Once the Veteran Fours head is done on 13 November he will start to pull things together.

· The men’s and ladies fours are starting to come on nicely – with some good head race practice I would like both groups to pull together in next years regatta season to get a ceremonial dunking in a river near you!

· The World Masters regatta 2011 is in Poland early next September. As the age to be a master is 27, I would like to see a squad go there from HBC. I would look to do this, as in previous years, together with the RAF, Peterborough and Lincoln clubs to get a variety of crews entered (and boats transported across there).

As the nights draw in, mid-week land training will start in mid-October. In the mean time get as much water time as you can!

Iain
