What do you do at the club?

I am one of the 'Blading Awesome Chicks'. I joined the club in May when I moved up to Huntingdon. I row with the other ladies usually in a four. I sit in seat 3, or 7 in an eight, bow side although I can row stroke side and quite like stroking the boat if I get the chance!

I have just become a committee member and hope to become a lot more involved in the running of the club over the next year.

Tell us about you

I'm 23. I grew up in Kent and studied Geography at Royal Holloway, University of London, graduating in 2005.

I am now engaged to Stephen who I have been with for 7 years!

After I graduated, Stephen and I went travelling for a year. We visited Cape Town for two weeks then travelled round Australia for five and a half months. We did a variety of things from spending Christmas Day eating icecream on bondi beach to camping with Kangaroos, visiting Ramsey Street, picking tomatoes, swimming in a rainforest river, white water rafting and walking round Uluru and Kata Tjuta.

We then headed to New Zealand and worked pruning kiwis and night time stock taking to get some cash to tour the country in a car we bought. We saw Dolphins, learned to ski on an active volcano, walked on a glacier, sky dived over Mount Cook, saw a kiwi and lots of penguins and stayed with some lovely people! Its safe to say if we hadn't already got flights booked we would have stayed!

Next stop LA briefly then Las Vegas (the most insane place in the world!), the Hoover Dam, the Grand Canyon (we walked to the bottom a vertical mile down and back up! A truely amazing place), Memphis, Graceland, Niagara Falls, New York, Washington and then back home to the UK exactly a year after we left!

I am a Regulatory Officer in the Environment Agency. My job involves considering applications for water abstraction licences, writing reports and drafting licences. It involves a lot of beauracracy and paper pushing so can get a little tedious but is ok most of the time!

Interesting fact

Most memorable moment at the club (so far!)
