Captain's Blog

Hi and welcome to "Captain's Blog", a new feature to Huntingdon Boat Club's website.

My name is Stephen Twynam and I'm the new Boat Club Captain I hope through my blog I can keep you, the member's up to date with the latest goings on and give you some weird and wonderful insights into what makes me tick!

A long overdue second blog from me!;

Hello

Firstly, I’d like to thank everyone who was involved in the Huntingdon Head of the River Race for the club. It was a really good day and enjoyed by all. To view the full report, click here. It was also good to see that our press release made it to both the Hunts Post and the News & Crier (Huntingdon and St. Ives edition). On this note about press releases, it is something that we will be doing at every available opportunity in order to gain as much local press as possible to raise the profile of the club. I’m pleased to say that we have had a second article in the Hunts Post regarding the Veteran’s HoRR which was Iain, Andy, Jim and Jon. This was a much better article including a picture from the race and this time we didn’t have to share the limelight with St. Neots. Long may that continue!

As we rapidly approach the festive season and turn our thoughts to presents, turkey and chrismtas pud, I’d like to thank Lyn and her team who were ever present at the official Christmas light turn on in Huntingdon to provide the public with very tasty hot dogs and burgers. It was a cold day but all went well and hopefully we managed to come away better off. Talking about the cold weather that seems to have arrived, thanks again go to Barbara for manning the tea table on Sunday mornings which seems to be a success with the footballers and their supporters.

Right, a quick look at what ‘s ahead then! We have one more quiz night before the new year which is being held after the AGM so please come along to both to support the club in affairs political and quizical! Hopefully, on Sunday 20th we will be holding a “Mince Pie Row” which will be a fun morning of rowing and mulled wine and mince pies for all, held in the bar with other goodies to buy too. These details need to be confirmed but keep an eye out on the website for more info on that! And another reminder to all, whoever you are, whatever you do, that you are all more than welcome to come to Winter Training (times up in the Gym) and join in with the fitness. Just make a note of the seperate times for girls and boys and look forward to seeing you there!
